Statement's goal is to gather society as a whole, and make it stand up to what they believe in.

Statement Clothing - Mom and pop Killer

A lot of people have been asking us. what is the meaning behind the mom and pop killer design? What is the significance of the camera on the head of the figure? etc... to make it more clear here is an explanation of the design.

The “Mom and Pop Killer” design comes from a song by hip hop recording artist The Grouch called “ Mom and Pop Killer”. It represents how corporations specifically Walmart are putting mom and pop shops( independently owned business) out of business. By law it is called monopolizing, but some how Walmart keeps on getting away with it. The surveillance camera as the head of this figure represents how the mom and pop killers have an eye on everything, they literally find the prices of the local stores and make their prices lower, leaving the consumer basically no choice because of the struggling economy.

The man behind the design is Máté Dani, a young and extremely talented guy from Jamaica.

I did an interview with Jeff Fernandez from Lacedout a few weeks ago, and here it is. taken directly from the lacedout official blog




1) Tell us about yourself?
There's not much to know haha, I'm a young ambitious Hispanic individual with dreams of being a respected, and respected figure in the clothing industry.

2) What got you into the streetwear scene?
I was really into skateboarding in 2004, and I was looking at the all the lame clothing that was out at the time, and decided to start a "skateboarding" company which eventually progressed into Statement Clothing.

3) Where do you find inspiration?
I can find inspiration pretty much anywhere, but for the most part from hip hop, street culture, and politics.

4) Where can we find your product at?
As of now, we are trying to get our name out more before we get into any retail locations. You can purchase our clothing on our online store(statementclothing.bigcartel.com) and we will have new merchandise available soon.

5) What can we expect from Statement Clothing in 5 years?
We would like to get more evolved in hip hop culture, and make our mark on the clothing industry. In five years we would like to be hosting small tours, and be more established as a company.

Rock The Bells 2009

What up tho,

We were in Los Angeles on saturday all day, we were in the city of bell, pico union, and east LA, had hella fun cruising around with the homie Playz(rapper/friend). We decided to take the 15 from LA to San Bernadino, and got stuck in traffic. We showed up to the San Manual Amphitheater just in time to catch The Mystik Journeymen, good weekend.

We started working with an extremely talented artist Máté Dani from Jamaica about a week ago, and he re-invented our vision of the Mom and Pop killer that we had previously created. What's good,

So here's the deal with the mom and pop killer T. We had some problems with the files, so we just decided to work with another artist as a solution to our little problem. We are working with a very talented young artist from Jamaica. He is working on re-inventing our M&P design as we speak. It should be done in a few days and from there we will send it to our printers to be printed next week. There is a few pieces of his artwork below. Mom and pop on hold

What's up,

I am having some problems with the "mom and pop killer" design. The file is not printing quality. So for now we are putting the design on hold. I'm going to work/collaborate with some other graphic designers to get this file perfected, and ready to print. What's guys,

It's that time again. Rock the bells is here! Get your tickets people, we will be attending the show, we will not a have a booth but we will be in the crowd enjoying the show, so come and chill with us. We just got our tickets in the mail yesterday. I personally want to see Mystik Journeymen of course the legends of the underground game doing there thing, Ice Cube amazing and "wise" artist in the hip hop game, House of pain/La Coka Nostra I grew up on House of pain well their "Jump around" song brings me back to the 90's.

So-Cal Adventure

What's up guys,

Today was nutz. We woke up 6 in the morning, went to the bank, pumped gas and headed our asses out to Long Beach, it was a very chill area. We picked up the shirts from Brian, from Pristine Printing and Elated Apparel. After that we ate breakfast then got back on the free way drove up about an hour up north to Hollywood, we chilled with Sunspot Jonz of the Living Legends and droped off some t's for him, then we drove through hollywood for a little bit, and saw some crazy shit. We got on the 101 and drove to Scarub's( another Living Legend) house and dropped of some shirts. there's some pictures below
